Domingo Gargallo has been interview by the newspaper El Global to discuss research for new antibiotics in Spain, compared to other European countries.

As Domingo Gargallo explains, «The great handicap at the moment is that pharmaceutical companies are not interested and, therefore, do not act as a driving force in the entire chain of generation of new antibiotics. A big debate currently is that institutions develop incentives for pharmaceutical companies to return to the sector».

As stated in the article, Spain occupies the eighth European position in antimicrobial R&D, behind France, Germany and the United Kingdom.
