David Pompliano

Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Third Rock. He has over 20 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, most recently as CEO of BioLeap, a discovery stage platform technology company. Before that, he was a senior pharmaceutical executive at GlaxoSmithKline and Merck, where he led drug discovery teams that produced pre-clinical credentials for >30 development candidates and four registered anti-infective (Altabax) and oncology (Tykerb, Votrient, Promacta) drugs.

Pompliano has  BSc and PhD degrees in Chemistry from the University of Virginia and from Stanford University, respectively, and conducted research as a National Institute of Health Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University.  He also is Principal and Owner of Sanderling Consulting LLC and serves on the Scientific Advisory Boards of several biotechnology companies.

International Award of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries (Heidelberg 1990) for the development of cultured human hepatocytes to investigate the hepatotoxic risk of new drugs to man. Field of expertise include human hepatocytes; drug metabolism and hepatotoxicity and drug-induced allergic hepatitis, cell therapy with human hepatocytes and PSC-derived hepatocytes.

He has authored 360 papers, including scientific articles published in relevant international journals, book chapters and several reviews.
